My War Room (well a small portion of it)

Ok,this is an impromptu post after a discussion with a few YouVersion friends about prayer boards and war rooms, etc.  I recently saw the awesome movie called War Room

How many of you have seen the movie, War Room?  It’s a very inspiring movie about the power of prayer and the need for it to be a big and consistent part of our lives.  In the picture on the DVD cover above, the elderly lady shows the younger lady an empty closet in her house and tells her it’s her favorite room in the house.  Long story short, the empty closet is a room she calls her “War Room”.  It’s where she spends time in prayer with God, fighting the powers that are afflicting those she loves and herself intereding for everything with God.  She puts pictures and prayers and prayer need lists all over the wall and other than that, the room is empty other than a small chair.  She goes in there and is alone with God and prays and fights the spirit realm with God’s leading.

From the Amazon page for the DVD: “Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” and a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light. Tony must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove Miss Clara’s wisdom that victories don’t come by accident”

Ok, now I used to have a small room in our old house that we lost last summer that would have been ideal for a war room. But alas, this new rental home is much smaller and there isn’t enough closet space as it is let alone to use as a war room. So I am doing the next best thing. I’m sharing an impromptu picture below that I just snapped on a whim after talking with a few YouVersion friends about prayer boards and war rooms and as I said, we aren’t settled yet after the big move at the end of the summer/early fall and then the holidays. So I haven’t gotten things very organized yet, so it’s messy, but this is my prayer board in my craft room. It’s just a spare bedroom I have bookshelves and bins in that hold my art and crafting supplies and a desk. Oh and a huge craft table I made that sits on book cases that takes up the majority of the room.  One whole wall is taken up by a shallow closet so I can’t put anything against that wall.  I was running out of room to organize the art supplies for my new Bible Journaling hobby, so I took 3 small doors my husband had from old VHS cabinets that had the shelves built in already and fastened them together and cut a piece of plywood to the back to hold the 3 together and covered it with white contact paper. I sat it on the end of my big craft table.  So after putting my art supplies on the front shelf area, I had this white “wall” per se staring at me every time I walked by it and to my desk or around it to my work space.  I decided that my craft room IS my war room and that white wall is the prayer board 🙂

I JUST started putting things on it the other day, so there is much to be posted yet, but hey, it’s mine and my place to meet with God and that’s the main thing, right?

Do you have a war room or a special area you’ve designated to meet with God?  I’d love to see it!  Post a comment here and show me your plan! God bless 🙂
