Well, Christmas and all it’s preparations got me behind on this series, but I’m going to keep my word and finish it out for you. Maybe you can find a few things to enjoy for your New Years Eve or New Years Day festivities! Only five to go, so here we go:
DAY 5: Cinnamon Bears
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour — sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter
1 medium egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar into large bowl. With pastry blender or two knives, cut butter into flour mixture until mixture has the consistency of course cornmeal.
With fork, stir in egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix well with hands to form dough into a ball. Wrap in waxed paper and chill for two hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Divide dough into four parts.
On lightly-floured surface, roll out each part to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut dough with bear-shaped cookie cutters.
Bake for 7 minutes until golden, and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Cool completely. Makes 60 cookies
